![]() | O.K. I am a first time grower and have done some of my homework, reading Rosenthals Growers Guide and been reading some strings on this site! My space is a closet aprox 2'x4'x8', currently I have One MH 175 in with one clone to test this space out, I am not exactly sure of when she was cloned but when I got her she was about 14" and has grown about 2" since I set her up under the light, There is plenty of ventilation and the light is approximately 6'6" off the ground where she stands. I don't think there are any lighting problems since she seems well adjusted after the two weeks in there, I will be repotting ASAP to a 3 gallon pot with a Vermiculite, perlite, sand and topsoil mix. I wanted some constructive criticism and I was thinking of bending the plant when I re-pot ( no punn ). Does any one have suggestions, here are some pics

![]() | Thanks for that thought But I was wondering if it is to late to start training at this time, especially since I repot today. Also This is a clone already and I have a couple more comming.

![]() | in my personal opinion, it is never too late to train. i do try to have it farely trained before i start flowering, but i have trained a plant for three days and (bent it up into place and tied it down, and three days later) threw it into the old flower closet, and bamm it buded well man. just try and make sure it has finished the majority of it's readjustment(ie the braches and leaves turn so that they are growing towards the light again. also, transplanting is not a huge deal to a plant unless you make it one. basically pamper the plant a little, make sure your hands are very clean, don't jostle the plant, water the new soil a little before and after the root portion of plant is inserted. and i always try to plant about the time the plant needs water. i'vr never had any significant transplant shock(due to poor planning and indicision(ok, i can't spell)i even replanted the same plaNT FOUR TIMES!)

![]() | you people do realise you can top the plant and train it! swear by it. just don't top unless a considerable amount of time is given for recovery before flowering. i mean you want the new tips to be phat just like the ones you clip. that way when it flowers, it breaks into a nice long bud.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nice looking plant warppped1 !!! Did you say your light is 6'6" high? I'd think you could probably move it down some unless your plant is on a stand or something. Know the back of your hand test--hold it by your plants for 30 seconds to check the temp--to hot for your hand, to hot for her. And why are you wanting to top her? sounds like your grow space would be ideal for her 8 ft? I've never topped or trained, do you get more from her then? I'd move your light closer and you'll get even better results. | ||

![]() | always top the growing tip(s) of the plant. the idea behind training and topping are seriously related to me. the idea is to get more of the plant to the light. training accomplishes by putting the plant at a cosistant level so that all the budding sites are close to equal. topping gives you more tips to get close to the light. with training, these multiple tips will be at equal(roughly) levels. you may want to research fim'ing. i call that topping too, but most don't. warpped1, always the tip. alley also said it right, if that plant is 6ft or whatever from the plant, get it closer. i personally adjust light to tallest plant, then adjust remaining plants to that setting. point is i beleive it is easiest to adjust light. that will prevent streching and give your buds that tight close knit bunching that looks so great in all the bud pictures you drool over. alley, why top..... well, would you rather have one growing tip up in the light making that big upper level cola, or two tips making two of those big upper level colas? i have had great success with topping. some purests don't like it, but i stand by it. in this case i don't recommend topping to keep plant short. i recommend it to split the one tip into two(i've seen some one top there plant into eight tips but it took forever. any who man did homie have some bud when he finished with that monster. it took him like ten months, but one plant filled four horizontal feet of canopy space to make one huge bud nest. it was cool, unrealistic, and he could have gotten more with less time had he just grown multiple plants but he wanted to grow a big plant. god do i wonder. point is, it makes more bud sites.
