Hi mymusicveins,

I just wanted to tell you that I read this thread back in February (I think), just as my seedlings came up. I have used your technique and can tell you that I find it to be incredible. I have over 50 "tops" growing on only two plants. Thank GOD that I had three males and a hermie out of six plants because I wouldn't have had room for them all using your awesome technique.

Also, out of the 4 plants (males and a hermie) that I killed and hung in my shed, two were plants that I just let grow naturally. Seeing the difference now that they have dried out is eye-opening, to be sure. The two that were trained are huge compared to the ones I just let grow. Sure the natural grown ones are way taller, but look like sticks compared to the other two bushes. It's plain to see that LST increases how much bud you end up with. And I think the LST plants even looked healthier!

I intend to keep on growing using your LST methods and also your "thunderstorm" flushing and spraying technique. I love it and it's obvious that my girls do too!

I don't know, but I think that the mods should make this a "sticky". I think this is the best description of LST that I have seen, but there are surely other good threads as well. (It could be a sticky already for all I know, but if it isn't, it should be!)

Thanks for doing this for us. You are a great grower and a nice person to share the way you have. Fantastic job!

Keep on growing!

Martin

Hey myMUSICveins and all.

First of all, I would like to second everything martin said, you are really an asset to this hobby.

I started training a new plant of mine, and it is now very bushy that I am not able to train it. Attaching some shots, please guide me to what can I do next.

Cheers

Howdy,

What you are doing is right in line.

The only thing you can do now is WAIT. When those new shoots start growing upwards, you can tie them down too.

I see that you have drilled holes in your pot to tie strings to and that is EXACTLY what I do. I just keep pulling down the tall shoots... I have one plant that the main stem comes out of the soil and actually goes in a circle about 1" above the soil. I trained it out from the center and as it grew, kept it tied down. It's launched countless shoots and it's looking all bushy and reckless. I know when I finally get her in flowering, she will go absolutely crazy. LST rules.

Don't be afraid to bend her, she can take more than you think.

Regards,

Martin

Hey Martin,

Thanks for the reply, my problem is that now, with the trained plant, the lower grow is hardly getting any light, my baby is very bushy and the fan leaves are covering the secondary grow completely, which is the opposite of why I started LST in the first place.

I don't know what strain this is, but I've never grew something like it, its around seven weeks now, but the main stem and all the other stems are very short and bushy, hence my training problem.

Cheers and take care

Those shoots will break through the canopy in no time, believe me. The fact the the "canopy" of the plant is covering them isn't a big deal. They will grow out of there in just a few days.

Just leave her tied down and wait until another part of the plant gets too tall and tie it down.

Judging from your pic, you are doing fine.

Keep on growing,

Martin

great job there... very interesting, i have a couple of questions:
1.- can you tell the size of the container you grew?

2.- can you transplant a plant while on training?
She was in a 5 gallon. Looking back though, i wish i would have put her into something like 8 gals

I suppose you COULD but it would be a hasstle. But then, everythings a hasstle when shes that big

Pick a side and go with it. Your going to always have a Denser half of the plant (because the main top is on that side)

As she grows however, you manipulate the branches into the open spots in the canopy.

I think i would pull her off to a side, and train her in a circle, but imagine leaving a slice out of that circle, so you can water her there.

Because shes going to get hard to get to physically as she grows (without disturbing her too much anyhow)

Train them as long as you can handle their size! people say triple, id say at least double in size they do in the first 3-3.5 weeks of flowering.

as long as you have the patience to wait, keep them in 18/6 or 20/4 for a while (patience along with room and lighting)

then when you cant wait any longer, for whatever reason change to 12/12
