SOL Blockhead at 7 weeks and the Kermith Trimming Machine
permalink

Hello all,
Well I recently tested out a Kermith trimming machine on some fresh Blockhead and thought I'd take this opportunity to post some opinions.
First up I'm going to talk about the trimmer and then I'll move onto some better plant pics and some thoughts on the strain.
Okay first up is a picture of the actual trimmer;you can see on the left hand side the vacuum attachment which is plugged into it.

Okey dokey.

Unsurprisingly the vacuum provides the power to suck the leaves in and then it disposes of them in the bag.My reservation stemmed around whether the sucking power would be too strong for the little popcorn buds at the bottom of the plants.I envisioned it ripping small buds wholesale of the branches.Hence this was the first thing I tested.I knew if it'd cope with the crap it'd fly through colas.
Below is a "before trim" picture of a lower branch and then it being offered to the trimmer.

The branch is twisted, while simultaneously moving it backwards and forwards.

All joking aside , whats the advantage of using that machine . When it sucks them leaves off into the bag , are they still useable ? Them leaves can get alot of wanted crystals on them !

You can tell from above that it's done the job quite nicely especially given blockhead is quite a leafy strain(as you can see below).Definitely not the highest calyx to leaf ratio I've ever come across and so ideal for putting this product through it's paces.

Vin shady:
From my point of view the advantages are being able to trim large amounts, very easily,in much shorter periods of time without having to do any cleaning up.I don't doubt that this would be overkill for a few plants but for whacking through a room or two it's invaluable. Moreover,it allows you to deal with the larger trimming jobs without involving anyone else. It's worth it's weight in gold for that reason alone.IMO.

Once the buds are almost dry....

They are then trimmed from the branch and placed on drying racks. These drying racks are good because they're stackable;so you can get quite a bit in a very small space, they stop people from putting buds on newspapers and they're cheap.

San:
Hello mate I'm trying to balance doing my job and writing this thread at the same time, which is why it's taking me so long to finish...probably be tomorrow before I get to the close-ups.
Anyway yeah they're £499 from a decent shop,up to £575 from someone not quite so reputable. The drying racks are around £6-7

I should firstly acknowledge that these SOl beans were seconds and given to me for free. There were only 5 seeds.....3 cracked with 2 fems and 1 male, both females were the same pheno.I'm not certain but I think it leans a little more towards the Sweettooth side of the parentage. Therefore this is only a partial account of what you may find inside a packet(indeed I've seen pics of what appear to be better phenos)and hence all comments should be taken in that context.
