| I live in a REALLY hot climate, temperatures are currently over 38 degrees celcius/centigrade, and because of that i need to wate dayly. I will be planting the my plants into the ground in about 7-10 days; and after that i will be away for a week. and please TRUST me when i say, that the soil is not at all moist. Anyway, i saw this jelly looking thing at a shop and it is soaked in water and expands full of water. The plant was planted directly into this stuff, and automatically watered it's self by absorping the water from the jelly. Does any1 know whether or not this will work as a watering system for a week if i add it to the soil i will be planting it in? If any1 knows what it is could you please tell me what it is called, and where i could purchase this kind of stuff? | ||

Why can't you ask the people at the shop what it is and where you can get it?? They might know a bunch of info on it. They might even have some extra ![]() Did you already plant your lil guys outside? If you are worried about leaving them and getting fryed, can't you keep them in your house for the time that you will be gone for? mr g Last edited by plainsman1963; 02-06-2003 at 08:55 AM..

| Yep, I am using it.. The stuff I use is called Aquasorb. They're a polymer crystal that absorbs 200x their weight in water. There are also starched based ones. So far I haven't had to water yet this year, but it has also been a rainy season. You don't grow in it directly, you mix 15-30 ml per plant in it's soil.(30ml if in sand) Remember that it also holds nutrients, so use caution when fertilizing. Got mine at the hydro shop... D9 | ||

| Thnx for the response, I will ask my local gardening store if they can bring some over. Also, check my topic in outdoor growing, 'automatic watering through evaporation', i need some feedback on wether that will work or not. Babies are 3inches tall at 2 weeks, looking good! P.S wb Delta9, long time since ive seen u around! | ||

| I found the website, its http://www.watersorb.com . Its quite cheap too! $7.50 for a 2 pound bag of it . Unfortunately, my local gardening store can get hold of it within 4 days, so i guess i'll need something else!Im gonna buy some anyway for my next grow indoors . | ||

![]() | Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents. A few years ago I did a web site for a company located in Central California that dealt with legumes and perinnials (<-- sp?). Anyways, I went to a "agriculture" convention in Sacramento with one of the officials of the company. As I was walking around, I came across a demo of a company called "DriWater." Very similar, if not pretty much exact as what you're describing above. Well, here is their web site address. The stuff was gooshy and their demonstration was very promising, although I've never tried it: http://www.driwater.com Enjoy, doob
